11th-12th October 2021 – #livingSTEM event in Portici-Italy

Living Science and Sustainability: results and perspectives of the Living STEM project

EDU lab, the Italian partner of the project, on 11 and 12 October, organized two days on Science and Sustainability at Villa Fernandes in Portici with the aim of  disseminating concepts and tools of the #livingSTEM project.

The 11 October was dedicated to the world of education.

An intense afternoon, moderated by Valentina Piccioli, CEO Just one Earth, with the participation of Marina Ferrara, Più ORTI in CIttà, Maria Luisa Pugliano, Istituto Comprensivo “Don Peppe Diana” and Ezio Terzini (Director of the Centro ricerche Enea Portici), Stefana Caiazzo (Urban Architect) and Enrichetta Idato (former head mistress) of Communitas Vesuviana.

We talked about Environment, Nature, Permaculture, Outdoor Education, the need to build partnerships between schools and local actors, the use of gamification as effective learning methodology, we talked about transferring important issues about environmental sustainability to students.

12 October was dedicated to laboratories dedicated to what developed within the #livingSTEM project.

We met the IIC and IIIA of the Istituto Comprensivo “Don Peppe Diana” and we played with them the Ideal Menu Game and, starting from this we talked about the ecological footprint, the greenhouse effect, healthy food vs junk food, the importance of movement and healthy life style, science and environmental education. We had a great time, with a sunny day at the Villa Fernandes garden!

 

To give greater visibility, the two appointments have been included within the Sustainable Development Festival 2021 as events related to Objective 4 (Quality education) of the 2030 Agenda.
